I did lifeguarding for two summers and then switched paths because I needed something more flexible. I found that brokers work as independent agents from home, which gave me way more control over my hours. If you're looking for something less physical or more long-term, that’s a cool option to look into. Lifeguarding was a solid start, though—I learned quick decision-making and responsibility real fast.

I did a similar course last summer, and it was way more hands-on than I expected, which helped a lot. If you’re juggling this with school, Plaza College School of Court Reporting was super flexible with scheduling when I took evening classes there, so it can definitely work out. Time management was key for me, but both programs gave me stuff I could actually use right away.
