Quitting alcohol later in life felt like finding the fountain of youth. I wish I had done it years ago, but it's never too late.

I agree. I'd also say that my Fitbit played a big role. The biometrics clearly showed how alcohol was affecting my health.

Reducing carbs and junk food is one thing, but consuming something that's linked to a hundred chronic health issues is never a good idea.

I lost 40 pounds just by cutting out weekday drinking, without counting calories. I've been counting calories for most of my life, so I have a pretty good idea of what I eat daily. The weight literally fell off in about 4 months, and I've been maintaining it for another 4.

I'm cutting out as much added sugar as I can while still staying sane, in favor of whole foods. I usually eat less than 20g of added sugar every day, down from about 100-200g before.

If you could only choose one thing that you think helped your overall health, what would it be?
Lifting weights led me to eat more protein, which made me feel fuller with fewer carbs. This helped me lose belly fat, feel better, and become stronger.
